Text: II Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
Introduction: Paul’s letters to the Church were given by the inspiration of God to Paul through the Holy Spirit. When we search the scriptures we can find pearls of wisdom that we may share with others that our faith might grow. When Christ said from the cross; “It is finished!” that is exactly what God meant. God had given His Covenants to mankind. He gave the Law to mankind. He gave the Word to mankind. Lastly He gave Grace and Mercy to mankind out of love for His creation through Jesus Christ.
Then: God stepped back and left it up to us to tell the old, old story of God and His Love. What we do with that command is totally up to us!
Saying #1: I Timothy 1:15 “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” We are all sinners, some lost, and some saved.
Saying #2: I Timothy 4:8-9 “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.” We can have a good life now and an eternal one to come. Our body is just a container for the soul and spirit. Someday it will return to the dust from which God made it.
Saying #3: II Timothy 2:11 “It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:” Because of Christ as our sacrifice, we die to our sins with Him and are forgiven. We are to practice that same forgiveness to others around us.
Saying #4: Titus 3:8 “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” We have the knowledge of good and evil unless we have been blinded by sin to the truth. God’s Word is truth and should be our guide. The law was cruel and showed no mercy. Love was the only solution.
Conclusion: The Bible is full of faithful sayings. We live by these faithful sayings!
