Text: Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
Introduction: This verse is a beautiful picture of Christ explaining what will happen if you accept His calling to you to accept Him into your life.
He Stands- Christ stands outside and does not force his way inside.
At the Door- This represents your heart, inner being, your life.
He Knocks- The Holy Spirit will let you know He is there. If Christ be lifted up, he will draw all to him.
Hear His Voice- Christ’s voice is the good news of the salvation message.
You Must Open the Door- You alone must invite Christ into your life and repent of your sins and ask forgiveness.
He Will Come In- Christ promises to come into your life and share bread with you.
Sup (eat) with You and You with Him- He will share the Word with you and help you grow as you eat the bread of life and drink from the well of grace.
Conclusion: It is so important to prepare for eternity. None of us know when our life here on earth will end. This is not to frighten you, but to ask you to think about eternity and be ready. It is so great that God loved us enough to tell us about the future, but He does not force himself into your heart.
