Text: Luke 11:17 “But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.”
Introduction: The family unit in this nation has been dysfunctional now for many years. Children raised in that environment are now adults. Television was their babysitter and demonically violent video games have driven many of that generation to the verge of insanity. (Insanity: the inability to separate fantasy from reality.)
Reaping the Harvest: Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” You should not kill. You should not steal. You should tell the truth. You should keep your word and promises. You should obey the rules. These are just a few of the “You shoulds,” that needed to be taught.
A Nation of Temper Tantrums: Most people who have raised children have seen a temper tantrum. They lie in the floor and kick and scream and hold their breath until they turn blue. Now, adults today do the same thing if they do not get their way, but it’s more like a group temper tantrum.
Grow Up! Growing up I was taught manners. What was acceptable and what was not acceptable. How to act in public and how not to act in public. I was taught to respect and not to resist just because that I did not get my way.
Conclusion: Jesus himself came down to earth and tried to tell people the truth of the way that things are. If you divide your household; it will fall. If you divide your nation; it will fall. There is a way that seems right to men and there is a way that is right, from God. The truth spoken out of love is love.
Proverbs 29:2b — “when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
